Video: Very Kerri in Emilia Romagna

It’s been some week for Three-Michelin-Starred chef Massimo Bottura. Not only has his Modena restaurant Osteria Francescana jumped up to No.2 in the World's 50 Best Restaurants Awards, it’s also coming to London, for three nights only, at the end of this month! I had dinner in Osteria Francescana last month, and it is well up there with one of the best dining experiences I have ever had.

If you had to survive on produce from one region for the rest of your days, providing you’re not a vegetarian, Emilia Romagna would be a solid choice. It’s home to crumbly parmigiano, moreish Parma ham and treacle-thick balsamic vinegar, not to mention dreamy tortelli and hearty mama-style ragu dishes. Rest assured, you’ll be well fed. With Lambrusco like you’ve never tasted and smooth Sangiovese reds, things are also taken care of in the drinks department.

One of the things I love the most about this industry is that you can have experiences at roadside trattorias and in family-run restaurants which are just as special as a once-a-lifetime experience at the likes of Osteria Francescana. That’s because there’s a time and a place to enjoy each experience.

Emilia Romagna inspired me, and I would like to share some of my favourite things about it with you.
